The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners, Inc. (NABCEP) has released an online survey to collect stakeholder input on a proposed Solar Heating System Inspector credential. This credential is intended for individuals performing system inspections for authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ), utilities, incentive programs, investors, or others responsible for solar water heating system quality assurance and code compliance.
Knowledgeable inspectors are critical in the effort to ensure quality renewable energy system installations. This new credential is intended to encourage those who are responsible for inspecting systems to increase their knowledge and learn what to look for when performing solar heating system inspections.
NABCEP convened a committee of subject matter experts to develop the draft Job Task Analysis (JTA) for Solar Heating System Inspectors which defines the tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities associated with performing inspections, and serve as the foundation for personnel credentialing. The system inspector JTAs will guide training activities across the country and serve as the blueprint for a NABCEP examination.
This online survey is designed to obtain broad stakeholder input in order to validate the draft JTA. During completion of this survey, participants are asked to rate the tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities contained in the JTA according to their importance, criticality, and frequency. Participation in this survey will help NABCEP ensure that the examinations developed according to the JTA accurately measure the knowledge level critical for performing solar heating system inspections.
