The American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association (ARCSA) has announced a new partnership to promote water efficiency in conjunction with rainwater harvesting - Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE). To formalize the occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by AWE President and CEO, Mary Ann Dickinson and ARCSA's President, David Crawford.
The Alliance for Water Efficiency is a stakeholder-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the efficient and sustainable use of water. Headquartered in Chicago, AWE serves as a North American advocate for water efficient products and programs, and provides information and assistance on water conservation efforts. AWE has embarked on seven key tasks to support and enhance water conservation efforts, providing benefit to water utilities, water conservation professionals, planners, regulators, and consumers. Both organizations advocate sustainable use of water: AWE through efficient applications or end uses, and ARCSA through the initial water supply, increasing it by harvesting rainwater to replace municipal supply. ARCSA also promotes overall conservation and efficiency of water use.
ARCSA's mission is to promote sustainable rainwater harvesting practices to help solve potable, non-potable, stormwater and energy challenges throughout the world. AWE is the first of what ARCSA hopes are many nationwide water efficiency providers that will work with ARCSA toward common goals.
ARCSA is gathering funds, experts and technical writers to create a comprehensive new national rainwater-harvesting manual and is soliciting tax-deductible donations for that and general operational purposes. In addition, we have many sponsorship and advertising opportunities. For more information, please contact Heather Kinkade, Executive Director ARCSA, at 512.617.6528 or info@arcsa.org.
