Green Plumbing and Mechanical Code Supplement Update Underway
On February 1, 2010, IAPMO published the first edition of the Green Plumbing and Mechanical Code Supplement (GPMCS). The GPMCS was the first green construction code in the United States. Having had the benefit of an extremely knowledgeable, motivated and diverse Green Technical Committee (GTC) to help develop content, and having gone through an open consensus development process, the Green Supplement has received accolades from water and energy efficiency experts and government officials alike. Several State, county and municipal adoptions of the GPMCS have already been accomplished and more are in the works.
However, due to the rapidly changing and dynamic water and energy efficiency industry, the GTC has started the revision process for the GPMCS in order to maintain its leadership position. As such, the public is invited to offer comments and propose changes to the GPMCS for consideration by the GTC. The GPMCS operates under a continuous maintenance cycle and comments and changes can be submitted at any time. It should be noted that the GTC is planning to publish an update to the supplement in early 2012. Parties interested in proposing changes to the supplement should do so as soon as possible but no later than June 1, 2011.
The comment submittal form can be downloaded from the IAPMO website at http://www.iapmo.org/Documents/GPMCS%20Form%20for%20Proposals.pdf
