IAPMO Enthusiastically Supports High-Performance Building Week
The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) has worked with U.S. Rep. Judy Biggert, R-Ill., and other members of Congress to gain support for H.R. 1407, introduced May 27, designating June 13-19 as "High-Performance Building Week."
As a key member of the High-Performance Building Congressional Caucus Coalition’s Executive Committee, IAPMO has committed a great amount of effort in promoting this legislation and its purpose — recognizing and reaffirming our nation’s commitment to high-performance buildings by promoting awareness about their benefits (water/energy conservation, increased safety/environmental quality) and by promoting new education programs, supporting research and expanding access to this information.
As an active supporter of "High-Performance Building Week," IAPMO co-sponsored or participated in a number of events in and around Washington, D.C., last week, including:
Monday: Visit and tour of the National Institute of Standards and Technology(NIST) headquarters in Maryland
Tuesday: Co-sponsor of Congressional Breakfast Briefing
Tuesday: Co-sponsor of High-Performance Building Congressional Caucus Reception
Wednesday: Attendance at high-performance building related meetings on Capitol Hill
Friday: Co-sponsor of Capitol Hill High-Performance Building Congressional Caucus Lunch Briefing
"IAPMO is very pleased to be part of such an important occasion for our industry and our nation’s future," said GP Russ Chaney, IAPMO executive director. "We view all of these events as a tremendous step forward in the name of water efficiency, which is an essential part of IAPMO’s mission."
