IAPMO R&T Taps Dr. Haithan Askar for Solar Expertise
IAPMO R&T, North America's premier plumbing, mechanical and solar product certification agency, has secured the services of Linden Consulting's Dr. Haithan Askar, Ph.D., for the certification of solar energy products to the Uniform Solar Energy Code (USEC), an American National Standard.
IAPMO R&T has for decades certified solar collectors, systems and components, including photovoltaic technology, to the requirements of the USEC. Section 301.1.1 of the USEC, published continuously by IAPMO since 1976 and now designated as an American National Standard by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), requires that all devices used in a solar system must be certified and listed by a third-party certification body such as IAPMO R&T.
In order to better expedite and illuminate the certification process for its manufacturer clients, IAPMO R&T has brought Dr. Askar and Linden Consulting onto its solar certification team. Dr. Askar holds a Ph.D. in Solar Application from Cranfield University's School of Engineering and is widely regarded internationally as one of the preeminent minds in the field of solar energy generation. He is technical director of Linden Consulting, an environmental, energy and management consulting firm providing expert, professional services to industrial, commercial and public sector clients.
A vital aspect of any product certification is the evaluation phase. Great skill and knowledge is required to properly evaluate a product's viability, longevity and its strict adherence to the codes and standards that govern its use. Dr. Askar provides unrivaled expertise to this evaluation process.

The USEC governs the installation, inspection and certification of solar energy systems and component products as a means of promoting the public's health, safety and welfare. It features provisions for performance, such as the requirements in the referenced standards, namely OG 300 and SRCC 100, as well as the installation of solar equipment, including items such as heat exchangers, solar thermal and photovoltaic systems.
Since 1936, Authorities Having Jurisdiction have trusted IAPMO R&T to certify products that meet every required standard.
